Farewell to Emeritus Professor Hampik S. Maroukian

With deep sorrow and respect, the academic community bids farewell to Emeritus Professor of Geomorphology at the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Hampik-Sahak Maroukian, who passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the age of 78.

 

Hambik S. Maroukian was a distinguished figure in the Greek and international scientific community, with a significant body of research in the field of Geomorphology. Throughout his academic career, he embodied integrity, dedication, and kindness. He inspired generations of students with his passion for science, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and humanity.

 

He had a strong international presence, was a founding member of several scientific associations, and received multiple awards for his research contributions.

 

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 25, at 16:00, at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, 4 Dialetti Street, Thessaloniki.

 

Dr. Maroukian was more than a remarkable scientist — he was an exceptional human being. His memory and work will remain vivid and inspiring.
